MARCUS MOTORSPORTS - NEWLY POSITIONED FOR 2008
Richmond, Virginia (January 22, 2008)
Steve Marcus, Owner of Marcus Motorsports announced team enhancements destined to propel the four year team to new records in 2008. Under the new identity of Motorsport Technology Group, Marcus intends to blast through the team's 40% podium record. "After three full seasons in professional sports car racing, this experienced group is positioned to advance to 'best in the country' status," Marcus stated. "Our full crew from 2007 has returned, and we have added some extremely talented personnel in key opportunity areas. Major sponsors MAH 720 Property Management and Auriemma Consulting Group confirm confidence by returning for another season, joined by TPC Racing, CDOC and DAS Sport. The fresh momentum and determined spirit of this team will push our three Porsche 997 Carreras to battle other Porsches, BMWs, Fords and Pontiacs on some of the most difficult race tracks in the United States and Canada," predicts Marcus.
With his return this year, veteran sports car pilot, Darren Law brings tremendous experience to the team. His invaluable ability to set up the car, and his sheer determination to win will be shared with other members who will be behind the wheel this season. "I am really looking forward to the '08 season, racing with Motorsports Technology Group," Law said. "Steve has put together a great group of guys and I have worked with many of them before. The crew has done a terrific job with the cars during the winter break, and we came away from test days earlier this month feeling pretty good about our setup and direction with the cars," Law stated.
Joining Law this season are Billy Johnson from California, Tom Milner, Jr. from Virginia and Georgians Andrew Davis and Ryan Eversley. All highly-skilled racers, this young group of professionals will be recognized as a force on the track. "While their youthful good looks and calm demeanor may fool, these guys are ferocious when the green flag waves. Give them an inch and they'll take a mile," warned Marcus. "Each of these guys have tasted victory and won't find satisfaction until they've reached the top." Regular drivers John Mayes and Michael Auriemma, who normally pilot the #20 car, will be concentrating on the Rolex 24 hour race Saturday and Sunday.
Friday's race at Daytona will test the team's work at the Marcus shop in Richmond, Virginia. Darren Law and Billy Johnson will drive #19, while the #21 car will be driven by Tom Milner, Jr. and Andrew Davis. The #20 car will be piloted by Ryan Eversley and newcomer Keith Carroll. Look for these standout Carreras to lead throughout the race.
Motorsport Technology Group will debut a hot, new #18 car at Lime Rock Park in Connecticut when
